What Matters: Community Impact
By: Myasia Stephens
Radical generosity. Ask around and you’ll hear a lot of varying musings about what it means. As we recently discussed with Anne Helen Petersen, in order to thrive, humans need to build, maintain and enhance community. However, community can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For some, it’s their neighborhood; for others, it might be a group of people that share common interests online or in-person.
For Giving Tuesday, we leaned into the “choose-your-own-adventure” approach, giving each teammate $40 to invest in their respective communities. To no one’s surprise, the incredible people of LaunchSquad did incredible things for the people they care most about.
Here’s a sampling of the impact our people made:
Pay-it-forward experiences at drive-thrus
Candles, cookies and coffee as a way to meet and delight neighbors
Toys and gifts for youths with incarcerated parents, children of veterans and other families in need
Supporting causes close to our hearts, like the Alzheimer’s Association and the Club Q families and survivors
Extra big tips to service providers
Supporting our entrepreneur friends
Cultivating a love of books with gift cards and handwritten notes
“Pie it forward” — getting pies on tables to queer families in need
Supporting unhoused neighbors with little treats and basic necessities
That’s the very profound thing about our Squad. People come here because they want to have an impact on the world. And we’re continuously blown away by the way they make it happen.
